Silica Industry Project Overview

The silica downstream industrial area aims to enhance the added value of silica sand through a series of downstream processes leading to the semiconductor industry.

Sungai Tabuk Industrial Estate will develop a fully integrated silica processing complex, starting from purification to high-purity quartz (HPQ) production, which serves as a critical raw material for global semiconductor manufacturing.

Silica Industry Facilities and Capacities:

  • Silica Purification Industry:

    • Production capacity: 50,000 – 85,000 metric tons per month per machine.

  • Silicon Metal Industry:

    • Annual production capacity: 50,000 metric tons.

  • Silicon Ingot Industry:

    • Annual production capacity: 40,000 metric tons.

  • Power Requirements:

    • Electricity supply for silica industry: 200 MW.

Strategic Purpose:

  • The silica purification facility will produce Hyper HPQ silica (SiO₂ 99.999%), which is an essential component for the semiconductor chip industry.

  • The development of silicon metal and silicon ingot facilities will further support downstream industries such as solar panel manufacturing, electronics, and advanced technologies.

  • The integrated silica industry strengthens Indonesia’s position in the global semiconductor and technology supply chain while maximizing domestic value addition.
