Alumina Industry Project Overview

The Bauxite Processing Industry Project aims to establish a world-class alumina refinery strategically located near abundant bauxite reserves in Central Kalimantan. This project will transform raw bauxite into smelter-grade alumina, serving as a vital upstream material for aluminum production.

  • Production Capacity:

Alumina Production Capacity: 1 – 3 million metric tons per year

  • Power Requirements:

Electricity Supply for Alumina Industry: 2 x 250 MW

Strategic Resource Access:

  • To the north of Sungai Tabuk Industrial Estate, a 7,500-hectare bauxite concession (currently in the permitting process) holds an estimated 62 million metric tons of bauxite with 45–50% Al₂O₃ content, ideal for future alumina refining operations.

  • The estate is also located near silica sand mines such as PT Natai Pasir Perkasa, which is already in production with 84 million metric tons of silica resources, located just 7.5 km from the jetty, enabling highly efficient logistics.

Competitive Advantages

  • Direct access to upstream bauxite reserves ensures raw material security for long-term refinery operations.

  • Close proximity to port facilities significantly reduces transportation and logistics costs.

  • The integration of bauxite and silica processing industries within the estate strengthens its position as a fully integrated mineral processing hub.

  • Supporting Indonesia’s national industrialization program while reducing reliance on raw material exports.
